Dave Black

Dave Black is a photographer, educator, and author who "loves to make pictures." As a freelance photographer for more than 35 years, Dave’s work has primarily centered on Sports and Action for such publications as Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek and the award-winning TV show Sports Century on ESPN. He has covered the Masters, Kentucky Derby, National Football League, NASCAR and done extensive work with the United States Olympic Committee, Olympic athletes and covered 12 Olympic Games. Dave is also known for his creative use of lighting and, in particular, the artistic technique of Lightpainting. His portfolio continues to broaden into the commercial and advertising industry, as well as with specialized lighting projects including work for the National Geographic.
