Packaging and Shipping Instructions

A. Packaging

Pack your products using the steps below.

Remove all accessories prior to shipment.

1. Pack drives in ESD bag

For single internal hard disk drives, place the drive in an ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) bag or similar material to prevent ESD.

External and Portable hard drives do not require an ESD bag.

2. Bubble wrap your products

Wrap product(s) in two inches of bubble wrap. Please do not use foam peanuts, packaging pellets, air bags, or newspaper.

3. Pack up your products

Place your product(s) in a sturdy cardboard box. The box should be large enough to fit your items but snug enough that they don’t shift around.

4. Repeat steps for multiple drives

For multiple drives, follow the above steps and ensure that the product does not directly touch each other and cannot move inside the box.

5. Seal the box with tape

Seal the box with packaging tape along all edges of the box.

B. Shipping

Follow the next steps to complete your return

1. Print shipping label

If you’ve already purchased a return shipping label from Western Digital or independently, the label will need to be printed and attached to your return package.

If you haven’t purchased a shipping label yet, you can click here, then enter your Warranty Replacement # (RMA #) and your email address. You will then see a link with an option to purchase a label”

2. Print packing slip

Print out the RMA barcode from the link below. It is also available in your Warranty Replacement authorization email. Affix the RMA barcode on the box.

3. Ship your products

After you’ve completed the previous steps, please ship your product(s) back to us with a carrier that offers trackable shipping. We recommend keeping a copy of your tracking information, including a receipt of postage.

Standard Warranty Replacement: up to 3 weeks once received.
